Sri Champakavalli Sametha Sri Prasanna Venkataramana Swamy temple is situated on the banks of river Dakshina pinakini in the village Thorapalli Agraharam. The temple is believed to be built during the earlier period of Chola dynasty. As an evidence, there are some ruined walls of a small fort which is in a dilapidated condition as of today. From the Stapthy’s observations the temple is atleast around 300-400 years old. However, the exact date of the temple’s incorporation is yet to be ascertained from the authentic sources.
There are some inscriptions available near the village that says erstwhile Mysore maharaja Sri Jayacahamaraja Wodeyar dynasty had donated the lands to brahmins as agraharam.The temple at present is under the supervision of the Tamil Nadu government endowment department. Regular Nityapuja is being performed to the deity both in the morning and in the evening every day.
